D in HD Day - Full Story
Outside Broadcast produced the 65th D-Day Anniversary for BBC in High Definition.

Every Year, on June 6th, the landing of the Allied Forces in Normandy is remembered. This year, the BBC had centred it's operations in Arromanche to cover the festivities.
Outside Broadcast was chosen to provide the technical facilities together with our Belgian crew of 30 people composed of technical crew and cameramen.
The OB flagship Unit 14, powered with GVG LDK8000 Elite cameras, EVS XT[2] servers networked with Final Cut Pro edit stations were be the heart of the set up.
Apart from broadcasting the show and being an edit-truck, Unit 14 also acted as the MCR for all the incoming and outgoing lines. Thanks to our flexible trucks (and crew) we can cope with such requests.
On friday morning, it all started as an event on the town square with a studio in the hotel next to the square. Because the whole project was very complex, things changed rapidly from then of. One of the challenges on these events is cooperating and interfacing with the local organisation. Our team was well aware of these conditions and answered to all changes in a professional way in order to put a beautiful show on air.
During the afternoon we were life for one and a half hour on BBC One and BBC HD followed by the evening broadcast of over three hours on BBC Four.
Some reactions from the BBC:
Chris Bretnall (Technical Manager):
"... Once the circus arrived in town is when the guys really showed their skills. The rig was completed efficiently, on time, and with all due regard to safety and the needs of the Town and its people. Technically everything worked just as it should, just when it should. Every requested change was accomplished without fuss or drama. Whatever were the inadequacies of the Event planning, the technical delivery was polished and precise..."
Nick Vaughann Barratt (Head of Events):
"…I agree with everything Chris said, your guys were utterly brilliant. They were creative, resilient, cheerful and professional. Please pass on all our thanks…"

In return we would like to state that it was a privilege for us to work together with the BBC. The pleasure was ours.
